"And then the princess found herself locked in a tower surrounded by a stinky moat with crocodiles and a huge scary dragon guarding the door," read the mother, with her eyes wide and voice deep. Then, she made a sad face and continued softly, "So, the poor princess waited and waited for her prince to come--"
*"But, why was she waiting for the prince, mumma?!"*
asked the little girl, impatiently.
The mother added, "To come and save her, silly."
"But, mumma, why did she need a prince to save her?" the girl asked again.
"Uhh... hmm..." the mother was at a loss of words.
The little girl said proudly, "If it were me, instead of waiting for years and years for a prince, I would have tamed the dragon and flew out of the window.
I would have rescued myself."
She discarded the book and walked away,
"This princess is stupid."
The mother whispered with a broad smile,
"I guess it is time to rewrite the fairy tales."
#ModernFairyTales#
Lets teach our daughters to be self sufficient n independent rather than waiting for a prince or a miracle to happen!

Do you #curse or #Bless??
Do you Curse or Bless??
"When something goes wrong do you curse it or bless it?
Our natural reactions often lead us towards the negative, but that only breeds more negativity.
I learned about blessing people and situations many years ago though Catherine Ponder in her book, The Prosperity Secrets of the Ages. The practice has served me very well over the years and I'd like to share it with you. It is a very simple way to say a positive prayer for someone or something. One of Catherine Ponder's favourites is "I bless you and bless you for the goodness of God that is within you."
You can create your own blessings.
We are not trying to change someone to our will but offer our positive thoughts of good for them.
When you are sending positive thoughts and vibrations towards a person they are much more likely to respond in kind. It always has much better results than cursing them.
When to use blessings:
1. Anytime you are angry at someone or can't seem to settle a disagreement with them. In Catherine's book, she sites several examples of people being paid debts owed to them once they blessed the debtor and saw them as prosperous and able to pay.
2. Any part of your body that experiences pain or illness can be blessed. You can bless yourself and your own emotions too.
3. A boss or co-worker who makes work life difficult may stop harassing you, once you have blessed them and the situation.
4. Always bless your bills and your creditors and thank them for the service they provide. Once you start doing that you will always have the money to pay them on time.
5. Bless your travel plans and see them going smoothly.
6. Bless your taxes and politicians... Politicians need to be blessed with the wisdom to make the best decisions for all who they serve. Blessing them will help much more than complaining about them.
7. Bless strangers you meet in the store. I do this inside my head often as I'm shopping.
8. Bless your relationships with your family, friends and significant others. Bless them when you feel they've hurt you. Relationships heal quickly after you stop worrying about the "wrong" someone had committed against you and begin blessing them.
You can bless any situation and if the act of blessing shifts how you feel about it, the changes it creates can seem magical.
Emmet Fox said:
"Bless a thing and it will bless you. Curse a thing and it will curse you. If you put your condemnation upon anything in life, it will hit back at you and hurt you. If you bless a situation, it has no power to hurt you and even if it is troublesome for sometime, it will gradually fade out, if you sincerely bless it."
Always try to remember that happy people aren't mean or rude, so send your blessings to those who treat others cruelly. If they become happy, they will change their behavior and we all benefit. Even if things don't suddenly shift with the person or situation being blessed, you will feel better once you have been able to bless them.
A few of my favorites blessings are:
May you overflow with love for the gift that is you.
May you have big dreams that you confidently follow.
May your life be blessed and may you create many blessing for others.
May you experience the power of blessings in your life.

#Kaali as #Krishna #Devdutt Pattanaik
I wish to share KAALI AS KRISHNA... article by Mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik.
Tantrik mystic traditions of Bengal speak of the goddess Kali, often addressed as Tara, as Krishna, locally known as Keshto. Both share the dark-complexion, shyam-ranga, and their partners, Shiva for Kali, and Radha for Krishna, are fair as camphor, karpura-gaur. The stories that connect these two very distinct traditions - the blood sacrifice demanding Tantrik tradition of Kali and the vegetarian Brahmanical Vaishnava tradition of Krishna - come through in phrases and couplets that make up some of the songs of Baul minstrels and even kitchen tales. The overriding emotion in these stories is one of love, pure love, that transcends the demands and limitations imposed by customs and law.
Shiva - Shakti & Radha - Krishna.; Types of Love.
They say that Shiva never spoke a single word until Shakti came into his life as Parvati. She became not only his wife, but also his student, asking questions, discussing and deliberating with him, till he revealed the mysteries of life. So, one day, she asked him, "What is love?" All he did then was look at her and smile. "Tell me, please, what is love?" she asked, turning away to hide her blush. This is what he said: "When you come to me as Annapoorna, the goddess of food, and feed me and ask for nothing in return, I feel love, for you have taken care of my hunger unconditionally. When you come to me as Kamakhya, the goddess of pleasure, and hold me intimately as no one does, I feel love, for you have made me the object of your desire. This is bhog. This is one kind of love. But there is another kind of love.
"When you come to me as Gauri, demure and delicate, and allow me to dominate you, demand things of you, take you for granted, knowing full well that you cannot be dominated by anyone, I feel love. You made me play dice, laugh at the simple pleasure of games. You made me make you dolls and enjoy entertaining you. When you come to me as Durga, bearing weapons in your hand, and protect me, I feel secure and safe, and cared for, I also feel love. This is shakti, this is power. By granting me power over you, by defending me, protecting me, empowering me, you make me feel loved. This is the second kind of love. But there is yet another kind of love.
"When you dance atop me as Kali, naked with hair unbound, unafraid to be yourself, unafraid to be powerful and vulnerable and unafraid of being judged and mocked, I feel love. You make me open my eyes. I realise Lalita, the beautiful one, who is also Bhairavi, the fearsome one. I realise Mangala, the auspicious one, is also Chandika, the violent one. I see you totally, without judgement, and I realise I am capable of seeing the truth. That you allow me to see you fully, without judgement, tells me that I have become trustworthy. Thus you become the mirror, the Parvati darpan, that reflects who I am. You help me discover myself. You become my Saraswati. You reveal the true meaning of darshan. In joy, I dance. I become Nataraja."
Meaning of love :
Shiva continues: "So, there are three kinds of love: love for the body that grants satisfaction, love for the heart that grants security and love for the head that grants wisdom. Animals can give the first and the second, only humans can give the third because they have the third eye hidden within. The first two spring from Kama, god of desire, and sustain life on earth. But the third kind of love springs from Kamantaka, from the destruction of desire, unmotivated by fear of death."
Shakti smiled and she offered Shiva a boon for this wonderful answer. And he said, "As Shyama, the dark goddess, who is Kali and Shakti, you have taught me love. You have danced atop me, forced me to open my eyes, turn from shava (corpse) to Shiva. Grant me the chance to do the same to you." So the Goddess asked Shiva to descend on earth as the fair Radha whose love and pining would make her appear as the dark-one, Krishna.
And it is Radha who taught Krishna the meaning of love as Shakti had once taught Shiva. He was - until he met her - a butter-loving cowherd who fought demons and teased milkmaids, but Radha's presence changed everything. Just as Kali transformed Shiva into Nataraja, Radha made Krishna take up the flute and make music.
The crucial difference
Just as Kali had made Shiva give up his autonomy and understand the value of the not-so-autonomous other, the pining beloved, Radha helped Krishna understand the limitations of society, the struggle between faith in divinity and fidelity for the husband. Radha was demanding, as Kali once had been. Radha sat on Krishna as Kali stood on Shiva. The two thus mingled and merged in roles and thoughts and feelings. But there was one crucial difference.
Kali had made the wandering hermit, Shiva, into a rooted hermit, Shankara. Radha did the opposite. She remained a flower stuck to the branch of a tree while Krishna became the bee that moves on after getting enriched with nectar. And so fulfilled by Radha's love, Krishna left Madhuban for Mathura. Kali had revealed love through shringara, romance, as only Krishna can. Radha revealed love through vairagya, renunciation, as only Shiva can.

#Wait for the #opportune time
An elephant and a dog became pregnant at same time.
Three months down the line the dog gave birth to six puppies. Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen puppies.
The pattern continued.
On the eighteenth month the dog approached the elephant questioning,
_Are you sure that you are pregnant?_
We became pregnant on the same date, I have given birth three times to a dozen puppies and they are now grown to become big dogs, yet you are still pregnant.
_Whats going on?"._
The elephant replied,
There is something I want you to understand.
What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant.
I only give birth to one in two years. When my baby hits the ground, the earth feels it.
When my baby crosses the road, human beings stop and watch in admiration, what I carry draws attention.
*So what I'm carrying is mighty and great.*
Don't lose faith when you see others receive answers to their prayers.
Don't be envious of others testimony.
If you haven't received your own blessings, don't despair.
Say to yourself "My time is coming, and when it hits the surface of the earth, people shall yield in admiration."

#Punya and #paapa related to our #previous #birth #life cycles
Interesting please read...
*Punyam and Paapam related to deeds of our Previous Birth Life Cycle*
Once a foreigner interested in the philosophy of Hinduism was waiting for darshan of Maha Periyava (Most revered Mahaswami) at Kanchi Mutt to clarify his doubt. Shortly, he got his appointment and without wasting time, he put forth his question.
"Swamiji, I understand all your concepts, value them but for one particular faith, namely the same soul taking various births, paapa, punya being carried forward to the next births etc…Can you please make me comfortable on this aspect?" Because, in all our religions, we get the reward for what we do in this birth only. For example, if we are honest, God is pleased and blesses us with benefits and we are dishonest, we get punished by Him".
At this point, Periyava asked him whether he owned a car and if he could do a favour of collecting some statistical information within Kancheepuram using his vehicle. The guest readily agreed, at the same time wondering why his question was not answered spontaneously.
"Please, Swamiji". "Go ahead. What is the service you want me to do now?"
Periyava said, "Please go around 10 maternity centres within Kancheepuram and collect the data of children born within the last 2 days such as the child's gender, health condition, parent's name, status, educational qualifications and time of birth.
The man said, "Fine, this is nothing, immediately rushed in his car like Lord Muruga goes in Thiruvilayadal and within a day he was back in the Matham with the exact statistics in front of Sri Maha Periyava. He went through the statistics, about 15 children were born in 10 hospitals, 8 female and 7 male infants, out of which 3 children had malnutrition defects, 2 children were the first child of highly rich parents, born in luxury hospitals while 4 were children of coolie labourers who already had a few children.
Maha Periyava now looked at the gentleman and started asking few questions:
Do you think any of these children have been honest or dishonest within 2 days of their birth? Probably they could not even recognise their own mother. So, they could neither have earned paapa or punya in this birth itself.
According to your concepts, all these children should be living exactly identical to each other, but not so practically, as some are ill, some are healthy, some are born to rich parents, some are born to poor parents.
Remember all children born on the same day, same longitude and latitude, you can't blame their horoscope which is going to be almost identical….
The gentleman was speechless! It is here the concept of previous birth erupts! All these children have taken their present birth according to their deeds (karma) and the resultant paapa, punya which they have accumulated from their previous births.
