Unexpected Wisdom from a Bird

I couldn't resist sharing this.
A beautiful Sufi tale...

Unexpected Wisdom from a Bird

A man caught a bird. The bird said to him, "Release me, and I will give you three valuable pieces of advice. I will give you the first when you let me go, the second when I fly up to that branch, and the third when I fly up to the top of the tree."

The man agreed, and let the bird go.

Now free, the bird said, "Do not torture, torment and burden yourself with excessive regret for past mistakes."

The bird then flew up to a branch and said,
"Do not believe anything that goes against common sense, unless you have firsthand proof."

Then the bird flew up to the top of the big tree and said, "You fool. I have two huge jewels inside of me. If you had killed me instead of letting me go, you would have been rich."

"Darn it!" the man exclaimed. "How could I have been so stupid? I am never going to get over this. Bird, can you at least give me the third piece of advice as a consolation?"

The bird replied, "I was merely testing you. You are asking for further advice, yet you already disregarded the first two pieces of advice I gave you. First, I told you not to torment yourself with excessive regret for past mistakes, and second I told you not to believe things that go against common sense unless there is firsthand proof.

And yet, you just tormented yourself with regret for letting me go, and you also believed that somehow there are two huge jewels inside a tiny bird like me!

So here now is your third piece of advice: "If you are not applying what you already know, why are you so intent on gaining what you do not know?"

*The Paradigm Shift - Living A Conscious Life*

*The Paradigm Shift - Living A Conscious Life*

*The Relativity of Your Life*

We live in the world of the relative. What and whom we surround ourselves with, how we spend our waking hours, and the type of person we become is in direct relation to all that surrounds us.

Many of our choices are conscious. They are the simple choices such as; "I prefer a black car to a green car, so I am buying the black car."

Many of our choices are unconscious. They represent those areas of our lives where we feel disenchanted, disappointed, empty, frustrated, and unfulfilled. Our heads may tell us one thing, such as: "I have to stay in this job to pay my bills" when in reality, we dread facing our workday each morning.

Other areas of unconscious choices lie in the area of unfulfilled relationships. The kind of people we share our time with. The type of romantic relationships we have.

There is only one way to tell if it is your conscious mind, or unconscious beliefs, that created these choices for you:

Ask yourself how deeply fulfilled you feel with those people.

Do you feel supported, nurtured, respected, valued, honored, cared for and loved? Or do you feel drained, taken for granted, hurt, depleted, disrespected and used?

Your greatest truth lies in your heart. You KNOW the answer. That answer creates the dawn of your opportunity to replace an unfulfilled life with a fulfilled one. It creates a tremendous growth opportunity. The growth opportunity of your life!

Who you are, who surrounds you, what you have, what you would prefer to have, and most importantly what you deserve, are all chosen by YOU.

It takes tremendous courage to face your deepest truth. For most people, myself included, it takes a paradigm shift.

Your paradigm is your general view of something.

If you think certain people who comprise a certain portion of the population are not good, your paradigm will shift when you meet someone of that exact group of people who shows you that they are not ALL that way.

THAT is a paradigm shift.

What about how YOU are? What is your general view of you?

For me, it took untold heartache, countless hours of therapy, and deep self questioning before I found the inner courage to align my conscious thoughts (I deserve the best) with my unconscious belief that I was not worth much at all.

Guess which belief was running the show? It was the unconscious one. The belief that I was not worth that much brought me the circumstances that showed me what I was tolerating, relative to what I could have.

Once your unconscious beliefs are brought to light, or come up to the surface, they dissipate. When that happens, a deep and positive inner shift takes place. You have grown.

No longer will you live any area of your life where you feel you are treated like dirt. You will only work in the type of job you absolutely love. You will only be in a relationship where you are treated beautifully. You will also feel worthy enough to extend yourself to others with an open heart, without having a fear that you will be hurt.

You will feel strong, confident and much more of the REAL you. The real you is relative to those parts of your life that do not feel like they truly belong.

What kind of company do you keep? Do you hang out with criminals or people who help uplift humanity? Which do you really prefer deep within?

Do you have a spouse or lover who adores you, or one who treats you like garbage? Which do you prefer?

This is the relativity of your life. All of our choices, both conscious and unconscious, lie in our self worth.

Look at your life and you will find the indicator of your self worth. It is a deep, transformative process to uproot the unconscious beliefs that have created pain in our lives.

As your beliefs about yourself change, so too will your life change. It is all relative to what lies within.

You will know when you have grown. Your outer life will mirror your inner life in a healthier, more positive and life enhancing way.

It may be scary, however, choosing the best will show you the real truth: that you ARE the best. Relative to the old you, the changes in your life will be profound. It will feel like a whole new life. The life you *DESERVE* to live.

*The Truth About Failure*

*The Truth About Failure*

Failure doesn't mean you are a failure...
it does mean you haven't succeeded yet

Failure doesn't mean you have accomplished nothing...
it does mean you have learned something

Failure doesn't mean you have been a fool...
it does mean you had a lot of faith

Failure doesn't mean you have been disgraced...
it does mean you were willing to try

Failure doesn't mean you don't have it...
it does mean you have to do something in a different way

Failure doesn't mean you are inferior...
it does mean you are not perfect

Failure doesn't mean you've wasted your life...
it does mean you've got a reason to start afresh

Failure doesn't mean you should give up...
it does mean you should try harder

Failure doesn't mean you'll never make it...
it does mean it will take a little longer

The 10 th #Apple effect

A hunter once lost his way deep inside the jungle while chasing a deer.

He used all his navigation skills but neither did he find any way out of the jungle, nor could he find any food to eat for 8 days at a stretch.

He started feeling so damn hungry that he could eat an entire elephant at one go.

Disappointed, he lost all hope.

And that is exactly when an apple tree caught his sight. 😍

He collected a dozen apples to feed him for the rest of his search.

As he ate the 1st apple, his joy knew no bounds and he just couldn't stop feeling grateful and blessed.

He thanked life.

He thanked God.

He could not believe his luck when he ate the 1st apple, but he was less grateful while having the 2nd apple and even lesser grateful when he had the 5th apple.

Somehow, with each passing apple, the hunger still kept on increasing and the joy kept on reducing drastically.

He just could not enjoy the 10th apple.

*Why?*

*He had already taken for granted the gift of having found an apple tree* in the middle of a forest after 8 long days of wandering with hunger !!

When he took the 10th apple in his hand, he was still very hungry but he just did not feel like having it any more.

Economics calls this diminishing marginal utility...

I would like to call it *diminishing gratitude*...

in simple words, taking things for granted !!

Or let's just call it *the 10th apple effect*.

The 10th apple did not lack taste, it did not lack the potential to satisfy his hunger but the only thing lacking was *his gratitude for finding food in the middle of the jungle.*

The hunter represents *us*.

And the apple represents *the gifts that life gives us*.

The 10th apple represents our *lack of gratitude for these gifts of life* and our *take everything for granted* attitude.
As we continue receiving the gifts of life, our hunger, our greed keeps on increasing and the joy we get from these gifts diminishes.

The 10th apple is as sweet as the first apple.

If the 10th apple fails to give you as much pleasure as the first one, nothing is wrong with the apple, everything is wrong with you !!

If you get bored on a dull day, it is not because the day is dull and boring. It is because *your gratitude has become dull and boring.*

Every moment is a gift that's why it is called *PRESENT*

Are U suffering from the 10 th Apple effect ?

Influential

*Are You Influential?*

*"You don't have to be a person of influence to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they've taught me."*

— *Scott Adams*

Everyone can be influential.
The way you live your life teaches others about you and what you value. Some are casual observers while others hang on your every word and deed.

Sometimes our words and actions teach others what NOT to do or say, other times just the opposite. I'm sure there are a lot of people whose lives you've had an impact on without even knowing it with many more to come.

Take today and live your best life so that the positive qualities shine brightly. You never know when someone, somewhere will feel the influence of your positive thoughts, positive words and positive actions. It happens more than you could believe.

*Have a beautiful day filled with love and happiness*

*Overcome everything that's holding you back in life.*

*Overcome everything that's holding you back in life.*

We have all been paralyzed by our fears at some point in our lives — they have a sneaky way of dictating our actions and reactions. More importantly, our fears have a way to blind us to all the numerous opportunities that would help us grow.

If you want to thrive, instead of just survive, you must face your fears. The problem is, we often think that fears are fixed and cannot be overcome. We think that this is just the way we are and will remain for the rest of our lives.

*Whose #Reality Are You Living In?*

*Whose Reality Are You Living In?*

"One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn't pay to get discouraged.
Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself."
--- Lucille Ball

Imagine two people take a ride in a balloon.

One of them is terrified of heights. The other isn't.

The one who isn't will enjoy the magnificent view, feel the warm wind on his face and simply love the ride. The person terrified of heights will probably squat on the floor, thinking "Oh my God! Oh my God! This thing is gonna crash and burn! We're all gonna die! Aaaaaaaaa!!!"

Objectively, they went through exactly the same experience. Yet one person had the time of their life, while the other would be better off having their chest hair depilated (and trust me, that HURTS). The difference was in their VIEW of the reality.

Your view of the world is crucially important for your well-being. Yet many people let others decide their reality for them be it friends, relatives, TV, or the newspaper.

You decide your reality depending on your thoughts and conviction.

*Just Focus - Look Forward*

*Just Focus - Look Forward*

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward.

So, when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

So just focus, and keep aiming."
— Paulo Coelho

Can you keep your focus forward looking or will you go back to tomorrow and what your life was like then?

Yesterday is over – you can't change it. You can control what you focus on.

Given the choice, and we do have it, what do you want to see show up in your life?

Focus on it, keep seeing it and take steps to get closer to it. You're on the right track!

*You Can Handle It*

*You Can Handle It*

*"Never say 'I can't handle it'.*

When an ant looks at something twice what he can handle, and then carries it home to share, *you* can handle it."
— Cara Ritz

This quote is definitely worth remembering, especially if you have convinced yourself into believing that there was no way possible to accomplish the task at hand.

Stop limiting yourself.

Believe in you and your abilities.

Will it be easy? No.
Will it be worth it? Oh Yes!

Remember:
*YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN DO IT!*

*How Do You Use Your #Abilities?*

*How Do You Use Your Abilities?*

"Do everything to the best of your abilities so that in everything you do, your abilities will become better."
--- Bob Proctor

Maybe you think this is a really simple quote.........

Perhaps it is on the surface and may we suggest that you consider it's meaning. When we practice using our abilities, they become better. Think back on the first time you had to write your name. It was pretty hard but as you continued doing it, honing your skill, it became easier and almost automatic after a while.

What abilities or skills do you have that could be improved upon by using them more? Ask any professional how they became so good at what they do. We believe that practicing over and over again will be on their list. I know it's one of the top 10 of mine.
